A Nissan Leaf protection plan is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs of services. Consumers often use their favorite search engine using the words "Leaf Extended Warranty", however they may have meant a Nissan Leaf protection plan where it is not a warranty as defined by federal law. Leaf Factory Warranty
THE NISSAN LEAF WARRANTY BEGINS: The Leaf factory warranty period begins on the date the vehicle is delivered to the first retail buyer or put into use, whichever is earlier.
FOR HOW LONG AND WHAT IS COVERED
BASIC LEAF WARRANTY COVERAGE: The basic Nissan Leaf warranty coverage period is 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This Nissan Leaf factory warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship of all parts and components of each new Nissan Leaf supplied by Nissan except for the exclusions or items listed under the caption "WHAT IS NOT COVERED" or, if the part is covered by one of the separate coverages described in the following sections of this warranty (included in the Leaf warranty information download), that specific Leaf warranty coverage applies instead of the basic coverage. Bedliners will be repaired to commercially acceptable standards subject to the conditions and limitations listed in "WHAT IS NOT COVERED."
POWERTRAIN LEAF WARRANTY COVERAGE: The Nissan Leaf factory warranty powertrain coverage period is 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. This Nissan Leaf warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship. Nisan Leaf powertrain warranty coverage applies to components listed in the warranty information booklet, supplied by Nissan except for those items listed under the caption "WHAT IS NOT COVERED" by the Nissan Leaf factory warranty. This includes the sections under the warranty for the Drivetrain, Restraint System, and Electric Vehicle System.
LEAF WARRANTY CORROSION COVERAGE: Any outer body sheet metal panel supplied by Nissan found to have developed perforation (rust-through) due to corrosion in normal use is covered for the LIFETIME of the vehicle under the Nissan Leaf warranty, regardless of mileage, except for those items listed under "WHAT IS NOT COVERED" on your Nissan Leaf factory warranty. No additional rust proofing applications are required. Perforation is a condition in which any body sheet metal panel has corroded from one surface through to another.
LEAF WARRANTY BATTERY COVERAGE: The Nissan 12-Volt Leaf battery warranty coverage period is for 84 months. A defective original equipment battery which is unserviceable within the first 24 months will be replaced free of charge. After 24 months but within 32 months, you will pay 25% of the replacement battery's suggested retail price plus any applicable taxes. After 33 months but within 50 months , you will pay 50% of the replacement battery's suggested retail price plus any applicable taxes. After 51 months but within 84 months , you will pay 75% of the replacement battery's suggested retail price plus any applicable taxes. Nissan Leaf factory warranty will pay the rest, including all labor to remove and replace the defective battery.
LEAF LITHIUM-ION BATTERY WARRANTY COVERAGE: The Nissan LEAF Lithium-Ion coverage period is 96 months or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. This battery warranty covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship subject to the exclusions listed under the heading "WHAT IS NOT COVERED".
LEAF WARRANTY TOWING COVERAGE: If your Nissan Leaf is inoperative due to the failure of a warranted part, towing service to the nearest authorized Nissan dealer is covered under the Nissan Leaf warranty for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
LEAF ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVERAGE: Included with your Nissan LEAF purchase, Roadside Assistance Benefits are available to you, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for emergency roadside assistance should the need arise. - Mechanical Breakdown
- Tire Failure
- Accident/Collision (One-way tow, loaner vehicle not included)

LEAF TRIP INTERUPTION BENEFITS: If your Nissan Leaf is inoperative due to the failure of a warranted part, and you are more than 100 miles from your primary residence, you may be eligible for trip interuption benefits. These towing service to the nearest authorized Nissan dealer is covered under the Nissan Leaf warranty for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The Trip Interuption benefits include:
- Substitute Transportation
- Costs to reunite the vehicle and owner, after warranty repairs have been completed
